Welcome to the home page of the Department of Hotel Management of Atılım University.

Tourism has been the most rapidly growing sector in the world, creating a wide range of international employment opportunities, particularly for the young generation. In Turkey, over the last decade, the country has witnessed a record  breaking annual average growth, making it the most rapidly growing country in the field of tourism. Currently, the tourism sector in Turkey has created employment for over two million people and offers career opportunities for young graduates.

Our department offers a four year bachelor degree program on completion of a one year English Preparatory Program as the degree program is delivered in English. The first two years of the program include courses in the field of general tourism management, followed by two years of specialisation in either Hotel Management or Gastronomy and Culinary Arts, depending on individual interests and career goals. Our department has agreements with several universities in different countries and our students can benefit from these educational exchange programs.

The faculty in the Department of Tourism and Hotel Management is well-connected within the sector. Atılım University's Hotel Management Program, with its highly experienced academic staff, aims to train creative entrepreneurs and leading hotel managers, equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills to work in this sector. The Hotel Management Program offers a wide variety of courses in the field of management information, these include: economics, finance, management, human resources, accounting and marketing. It also offers tourism courses that focus on economics, conference tourism, catering, travel agencies, tour operators and sustainable tourism. Graduates from the Hotel Management Program can find employment in many different areas of the tourism sector, including working in both national and international hotel companies.

In recent years, Gastronomy has become one of the most popular and attractive business areas in Turkey. At Atılım University, students in the Gastronomy and Culinary Arts Program take courses covering food and beverage management, cooking techniques, Turkish cuisine, world cuisine, restaurant management, and pastry and beverage culture. Atılım University has high quality, modern kitchens and restaurants equipped with the latest technology to encourage and develop students' creativity. Graduates from the Gastronomy and Culinary Arts Program can find employment as top chefs in hotels and restaurants or can start their own catering business.

Thanks to the cooperation protocol between Atılım University's Tourism and Hotel Management Department and Ankara Sheraton Hotel and Convention Centre, a branch of a major international hotel chain, students have the opportunity to do their internship in this hotel and, at the same time, earn money. This can be advantageous for students who graduate from the program.

The Tourism Management Department welcomes you to the fascinating world of tourism, hotels, food and beverage services, travel and entertainment.
Tourism, which is one of the most important sectors of the world comprises the travelling activities of people to the places other than their usual environment and the facilities to satisfy their needs in these places. All the data related with tourism reveals that tourism keeps on its growth as an economic activity during the following years. For Turkey, which is among the top ten countries in respect with both international tourist arrivals and tourism revenues, tourism becomes an inevitable truth. Because of this, it is visible that the need for qualified personnel for the fields of hotel management, transportation, food and beverage management and travel management is growing dramatically.
The education language in the Department of Tourism Management is English. The main objective of the department is to satisfy the need of middle and upper level of management personnel in the sectors of accommodation, travel, transportation, congress and conference and guidance services with the people having ethical values and hospitality as their main principle.
The curriculum of our department is designed to fulfill students with practical and theoretical knowledge of tourism industry. The courses of food and beverage, front office, and housekeeping include practice and the courses related with tourism-environment relations and new assumptions of tourism are supported by field studies. Some of the practice courses are conducted in 4 and 5-star hotels and other tourism institutions. In the second year of the department curriculum, students have the opportunity of practicing their theoretical knowledge during their summer practice in 4 and 5-star national and international hotel chains and in Group A travel agencies. In the third and fourth year of study, a second foreign language (German, French, Spanish, Russian, etc...) is given as a compulsory course.
Our department has also Erasmus Student Exchange Program agreements with Lleida University in Spain, Breda University in Netherlands, and Presov University in Slovakia. With the help of this program, our students can spend at least one of their semester in these aforementioned universities
Our students may have the chance of getting education scholarship if they fulfill the requirements. Furthermore, students have chance to make double-degree in other departments of Atilim University.
Our students who are successful during their summer may get a job offer from these institutions. Our graduates may have a career both in the fields of accommodation, travel, food and beverage management of the tourism sector and in the institutions like the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.
